Biography

Alexis Parxaridis was born in 1971 in Kozani by Pontian parents, whose origins are from Kapikioy (Turkish: Kapuköy, Maçka) of Trabzon. The Greek origins of his parents are from Protochori (fmr.Portoraz) - on father's side - and Alonakia (fmr.Seralar) - on mother's side. Both villages are located at the Municipality of Kozani and of course he has paid tribute to them greatly in the songs he has performed.

In 1989 he was accepted to the Automatism department of the Technological Institution of Thessaloniki.

During his studies he was the active president of the Pontian Students Association of Thessaloniki. At that time and after being encouraged by ever memorable Chrysanthos Theodoridis, he began involving himself with the traditional pontian song, having performed to this day in many pontian clubs.

Until now he has recorded six personal albums with traditional pontian songs. In 1998 he took his first steps in the modern artistic Greek music, by participating in the album «Yakinthos» (Hyacinth) by Manos Achalinotopoulos.
